Your treatment guide
Before & After Care
Everything you need to know to prepare for your session and care for your skin afterward — so you get the best possible results.
Before your session
How to prepare
A little preparation goes a long way. Following these steps helps ensure your treatment is safe, effective, and comfortable.
Shave the area 24–48 hours before
Shave — don't wax, thread, or pluck. The laser targets the hair follicle beneath the skin, so the root needs to be intact. Shaving removes surface hair while leaving the follicle in place.
Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks prior
Tanned or sunburned skin increases the risk of side effects. Stay out of direct sun and skip self-tanner for at least two weeks before your appointment.
Come with clean, product-free skin
On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean skin — no lotions, deodorant, makeup, or perfume on the treatment area. These can interfere with the laser and irritate skin.
Skip retinoids and exfoliants
Discontinue retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and other active exfoliants for at least 5–7 days before your session. These sensitize the skin and can increase irritation.
Stay hydrated
Well-hydrated skin responds better to treatment. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.
After your session
Caring for your skin
Post-treatment care is just as important as preparation. Your skin needs a little extra TLC in the days following your session.
Expect some redness and warmth
Mild redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation are completely normal for 24–48 hours after treatment. This is your skin responding to the laser — it's a good sign.
Apply a cool compress if needed
If you experience discomfort, a cool (not ice-cold) compress can help soothe the area. Aloe vera gel is also a gentle, calming option.
Avoid heat for 24–48 hours
Skip hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts for at least 48 hours. Heat can aggravate treated skin and increase the risk of irritation.
Protect from sun exposure
Treated skin is more sensitive to UV. Apply SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after your session.
Don't pick or exfoliate
As hair sheds over the following weeks, resist the urge to pick or scrub. Let the hair shed naturally — this is part of the process.
Moisturize gently
Use a fragrance-free, gentle moisturizer to keep skin calm and hydrated. Avoid active ingredients like retinol or acids until any redness has fully resolved.
What to expect
Realistic results, honestly explained
Laser hair removal is highly effective — but it works in cycles. Hair grows in phases, and the laser can only target follicles in the active growth phase. That's why multiple sessions are needed for complete results.
Most clients need 6–8 sessions for optimal results, spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on the treatment area.
You'll notice progressive reduction after each session — many clients see 20–30% reduction per treatment.
Results vary based on hair color, skin tone, and hormonal factors. Tallia will give you an honest assessment at your consultation.
Maintenance sessions (once or twice a year) may be needed for some clients, especially those with hormonal influences on hair growth.
